Summer Experience
The REACH Memphis Summer Experience offers students the chance to attend prestigious academic programs across the country, expanding their learning beyond the classroom. From college campuses to cultural immersion opportunities, students gain confidence, independence, and real-world exposure that prepares them for future success in college and life.
Our Scholar Groups
Our healthcare scholars explore a diverse range of medical fields, gaining meaningful insights into their areas of interest. Through hands-on projects from suture kits to bone drilling and dynamic networking opportunities with healthcare professionals, they deepen their understanding while building meaningful connections
Law scholars gain firsthand exposure to the legal system in action. Through engaging conversations with attorneys and judges, immersive court observations, and guided tours of courthouses and law schools, they explore the real-world dynamics of the profession. Along the way, they develop foundational skills essential for success in law—critical thinking, effective communication, and ethical decision-making.
The STEM Scholars discover the many fields of engineering and the coursework required to succeed as an engineer. With their mentors, scholars learn valuable research skills, work in teams, strengthen presentation skills, and design various engineering projects.
Innovative Scholars, presented by the Jay Uiberall Foundation, is a student-centered program designed with the passions and aspirations of its students in mind. Foundationally rooted in communications, the program provides communication development in many forms and it is applied to real-world situations that align with their career interest. Innovative Scholars cultivates leadership, creativity, and purpose-driven learning.
LeadONE Student Executive Board is a leadership development group where students sharpen skills in communication, collaboration, and strategic thinking while turning their passions into action. As student leaders, they influence REACH Memphis programming, build community through special student-only events, and serve as ambassadors who inspire peers and represent REACH Memphis in the community.

"For my summer experience, I attended Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. Because of the mentor meetings through REACH Memphis, I was able to navigate the campus and social settings successfully. I was able to form connections with other girls in the program, which, in turn, created some fond memories. Some of them include exploring the downtown area, field trips, and movie nights within our dorm. During this summer experience, I learned that we can change our planet for the better through our food system and plant systems. Because of this, I have now taken an interest in environmental sciences and environmental policies. This summer experience not only grew my knowledge but also me as a person. It allowed me to navigate the world independently and instilled a new sense of responsibility within me."

“REACH prepared me for the summer by challenging me with different instances that could occur when I attended the program (i.e. indifferences with roommates, struggling in classes, and inconveniences when traveling). It instilled in me confidence that I can thrive in a college environment, but also taught me that there are changes I may not be able to control. However, I will be able to control how I react to them. My most impactful experience was the sheer freedom we were given and the trust we had to venture around the campus. It also made me 100% certain that I want to pursue a career in educational law and government service. I also need to be wary of the financial toll that going to college will have, so I will work even harder to earn a scholarship. In its entirety, this pre-college program is an experience I would without a doubt have again.”

REACH prepared me for my experience by having mentor meetings to speak upon everything to be expected as we looked forward to our summer experience. The highlight and most impactful moments were meeting new cultures and making friends with those who surrounded me, working as a group to make sure no one was left behind. My summer experience influenced my academic goal by teaching me how to survive and taught me how soothing nature is. The summer experience helped my personal growth because I got to take a break away from social media and actually think on my own, giving me peace and helping me mature."

Career Readiness Scholar Groups
Career Readiness Scholar Groups connect students with peers and mentors in small, focused cohorts aligned to their career interests. Through hands-on activities and real-world exposure, students build skills, grow their networks, and gain the confidence to pursue their professional goals.
College & Career Counseling
College & Career Counseling picks up where the Summer Experience leaves off, supporting students through high school graduation and into college. With access to college advising, financial aid guidance, and application support, students create a personalized roadmap for success.
